Dear k/1 families,
Unit of Inquiry – Where We Are In Place and Time
This week we continued learning about celebrations in our current unit of inquiry.
In preparation for Martin Luther King Day next month, students collaborated with 7th graders to write poems that respond to one of his quotes. Teachers will submit some of the k/1 entries to Empower Montana for their annual MLK art and essay contest. We will let you know if any of the poems are selected for the annual event in January.
The classes also worked in pairs to create animations and robot projects that represent different holidays.
In addition, the classes gathered to learn about the significance and traditions during Harvest Festival (Malaysia).
Next week, we will learn about more special celebrations such as Eid Al-Fitr (Pakistan), Festival de Las Flores (Colombia), Día de los Diablos Danzantes (Venezuela), Hanukkah, and Christmas.
