Dear k/1 parents,
Happy New Year! We are excited to be back from holiday break for more learning opportunities with your children!
Unit of Inquiry – Where We Are in Place and Time
This week we concluded our unit of inquiry with presentations and crafts related to Reyes Magos (Spain) Diablitos Danzantes (Venezuela), and Chinese New Year.
For the final assessment, student worked in groups to create a new celebration. They planned the different traditions, motives, dates, and locations for their celebrations and then created a large sign to advertise the events. Finally, the groups gave oral presentations to their classes to invite everyone to participate.
Next week, students will bring home their unit portfolios to share their learning with you. Please take the time to listen to your child’s comments and share their work with you.
New Unit of Inquiry – How We Express Ourselves
Students will begin exploration in a new unit next Tuesday. Please encourage your child to bring presentations related to the central idea or related objects to place in the unit of inquiry center.
We also encourage parents who have expertise in any of the unit concepts to arrange an activity or presentation with their child’s teacher if interested.
